Peter Conolly

Peter is currently the Delivery Director for Cyber Transformation at the HSE, an organisation with over 140,000 employees.
Throughout his career, he has held a variety of executive leadership roles across both the public and private sectors. His experience spans the healthcare, corporate, and telecommunications industries, where he has successfully delivered large-scale transformation programmes and established new organisations and operating models. He also brings deep expertise across all aspects of Information Technology.
A seasoned IT leader and change advocate with almost 30 years of experience, he has led numerous technology teams and functions, consistently delivering impactful business value. Over the past eight years, his focus has centred on enterprise-scale solutions, including cybersecurity, information standardisation, information reuse, data protection, and governance.
He is a passionate advocate for reducing enterprise attack surfaces and a strong proponent of Zero Trust security principles. He has led the HSE’s Code of Connection initiative, ensuring that all suppliers connecting to HSE systems meet appropriate cybersecurity standards and security thresholds.
Over the past year, he has established a new security operating model and developed an enterprise-class cybersecurity function within the HSE. His current responsibilities include leading the development of the HSE’s Cyber Strategy and overseeing the implementation of an enhanced national incident response capability, including incident playbooks and cyber incident rehearsal exercises.
