Madhusanka Liyanage

Madhusanka Liyanage is an Associate Professor, Ad Astra Fellow, and Director of Graduate Research at the School of Computer Science, University College Dublin (UCD). An internationally recognised researcher in communications, cybersecurity, and networking, he has held academic affiliations with leading institutions in Finland and Sri Lanka. He has received numerous prestigious honours, including the IEEE ComSoc Outstanding Young Researcher Award and recognition among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier.
With more than 150 publications, several books and patents, and over €5 million secured in research funding, he has led and contributed to numerous EU and international ICT projects. A Senior Member of IEEE and expert consultant for ENISA, his research focuses on next-generation communication networks, security, and emerging technologies. He is also an experienced research leader, supervisor, and reviewer, with a strong track record in project management, graduate mentoring, and international collaboration.
